In community, many people work together for a common goal. Each HOBY ambassador of the newly formed group C3 chose a word that they felt was essential in building a strong community. The puzzle pieces represent a cohesiveness that each community must obtain in order to grow and remain strong.

UNITY
The piece is composed of a hollow body with small people inside. Each ambassador created a person that represents themselves and their passion inside the hollow body. The heart is Earth, which symbolizes our love for the planet. The continents on the earth are joined together (Pangaea) which symbolizes unity. The head is missing and words spill out, which symbolize our thoughts about HOBY, leadership and community service. The body is holding a tree, which symbolizes the need for community service. All of the small people join together to create amazing things.

Our representation of community suggests that though our differences are important, our shared humanity matters most. In this scenario, the effort of recycling is being pursued by all regardless of race. The unit ousts any chance of racial interference. After all, we're all the same when it comes down to the fundamentals! Based on symbolism, the changing seasons represents the spirit that never dies.

COMMUNITY UMBRELLA
Our mural represents community and the importance of working together as a diverse group. A community should stick together even through trying situations. OPENING YOUR EYES TO A BRIGHTER TOMORROW
This painting shows the ideal world in the eye of a human, and the tear of sadness shows the current struggles in nature. Diversity is shown by the different colord hands planting the tree in the eye. This represents that all of us, even though we may be different, can work, together to make a positive impact on the community.

Al's bar was once a place to fear. It was a place people looked down upon and avoided. Two people changed this stereotype and turned it around for the better. Our mural represents their drive for success. The OPEN sign stands for the willingness to change and open the community to a new generation, one of joy and safety. Our angel in the left corner represents safety as the people are constantly being watched upon. The flower box in the bar's window is the beauty of the neighborhood and an example for all around. And finally, our poodle represents a playfulness and ability for people to interact safely. Two people changed on community that changed many others that make up one Lexington.

Harmonious Opportunities to Be Yourself
For us community means individuality within a harmony of people who share a community it represents existing within a whole while helping others find their niche. We recognize that there are separate communities in all walks of life, including family city, state, national, and the global community. Our piece represents community through music because we are all notes co-existing for the greater good of the entire music piece. Most importantly the communities we belong to will leave unchanging footprints and hand prints in our hearts. We would like to thank Theo for helping us express our thoughts through creative artwork. We had a great time!

We love our work of art. It shows the many ways communities in Kentucky come together. Each section represents a county that is a home of one of the artists. The drawings inside represent the many ways that our communities come together. Simple things like sports, music, celebrating, and helping others is what truly brings these communities together. The hand prints represent the unity of these communities, the bonding they have even though they are different and from different places. The splattering also helps represent our individuality and similarity of the group.
